Sweet Potato Pie Recipe

Sweet potato pie is a classic dessert that's perfect for any occasion. Here's a delicious recipe to try: 

Ingredients: For the pie crust: – 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour – 1/2 teaspoon salt – 1/2 cup unsalted butter, chilled and cubed – 1/4 cup ice water

For the filling: – 2 medium-sized sweet potatoes (about 1 1/2 pounds), peeled and diced – 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted – 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed – 2 large eggs, beaten – 1/2 cup evaporated milk – 1 teaspoon vanilla extract – 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon – 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg – 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger – 1/4 teaspoon salt

Prepare the pie crust: – In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Add the chilled, cubed butter. – Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to cut the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

– Gradually add the ice water, 1 tablespoon at a time, mixing until the dough comes together. – Shape the dough into a disk, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

Prepare the sweet potatoes: – Place the diced sweet potatoes in a pot of water and bring to a boil. Cook for about 10-15 minutes, or until the sweet potatoes are fork-tender. – Drain the sweet potatoes and mash them until smooth. Let them cool slightly.

Make the filling: – In a large mixing bowl, combine the mashed sweet potatoes, melted butter, brown sugar, beaten eggs, evaporated milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and salt. Mix until well combined and smooth.

Roll out the pie crust: – On a lightly floured surface, roll out the chilled pie dough into a circle large enough to fit into a 9-inch pie dish. Carefully transfer the dough to the pie dish and trim any excess dough from the edges.
