Rumors over ‘next James Bond’ left shaken and stirred by Aaron Taylor-Johnson speculation

The British tabloid "The Sun" released an article stating that 33-year-old British actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson had been given the part of 007. This shook and inflamed the rumors around the next James Bond.

According to an anonymous source cited by The Sun, "Bond is Aaron's job, should he decide to accept it. They have made a formal offer and are now awaiting a response. Years of guesswork about who will replace Daniel Craig as James Bond following his final outing in 2021's "No Time to Die" have culminated in the Taylor-Johnson rumors.

Johnson has not been cast as Bond, according to a source with knowledge of the situation who spoke the casting rumors surrounding Taylor-Johnson have been debunked,

As per IMDB, 33-year-old Taylor-Johnson's breakout performance came in the 2008 teen comedy "Angus, Thongs and the Perfect Snogging," which catapulted him into the mainstream. Following his debut in 2010 with "Kickass," he went on to even greater success.

He was nominated for a Golden Globe in 2017 for his performance in Tom Ford's 2016 neo-noir "Nocturnal Animals," for which he was best supported. Irish actor Cillian Murphy, who won the Oscar for Best Actor not long ago, and British actor Henry Cavill are among the other names being considered for the part.

Pierce Brosnan, a former Bond, even gave Murphy a thumbs up not long ago. Brosnan shared with the BBC that he thought Cillian would be absolutely fantastic as James Bond on His Majesty's Secret Service.

Idris Elba has previously stated that he felt "super complimented" by the idea that he could be the first black James Bond, and this rumor has persisted for years. Although he expressed his gratitude, he did concede that not everyone was pleased that he was being considered.

This whole thing became about race because others who weren't enthusiastic with the notion made it unpleasant and off-putting," Elba remarked on the "Smartless" Podcast in 2023. "Dude, it turned into a nonsense fest, and I received the worst of it."

When exactly production will commence on the next installment in the legendary sixty-plus year franchise or when an official announcement will be made is anybody's guess. Michael G. Wilson of Eon Productions, who produces James Bond films, told Deadline last year, "There will always be a Bond."
