Here are several actors' reactions to casting rumors for the next Bond.

London — Aaron Taylor-Johnson is the latest actor supposedly offered a license to kill and replace Daniel Craig as James Bond. “Kick-Ass” star is no stranger to action flicks and is a decent age to join the franchise at 33, as producers likely expect a 10-year commitment.

Since Craig revealed he was retiring as 007 after five films, the last being “No Time to Die” in 2021, there has been frantic conjecture over who will play the position.Bond producers have not addressed Taylor-Johnson speculations. British actors often discuss the next Bond, sometimes before the job is available, using different techniques and replies.

While Idris Elba has been a leading candidate for years, Barbara Broccoli announced in 2022 that he has ruled himself out. She told The  he's out. We love Idris as an actor and a friend. But I think a 10-, 12-, or 15-year commitment could be too much for him.”

I still remember the rumor, Elba remarked in 2023. Maybe I'm the most famous 'Bond' actor who never played the part. Well, what can I say? I’ll accept.” Elba has famous followers like Matt Damon. I find him brilliant. I watch him in everything, and he would improve that franchise.”

In 2015, “Inception” and “Dunkirk” star Tom Hardy was rumored to be the new Bond, but he said he had “heard nothing” about "I guess answering that put you out of the running.

So goes my spot, he joked. Luke Evans, who has been in “The Hobbit,” “Beauty and the Beast,” and “Nine Perfect Strangers,” believed his Bond dream was ended. I'll be too old by the time they cast it again," the 44-year-old actor told The Associated Press in 2022.

In 2019, Richard Madden denied Bond speculations at a Cannes news conference for “Rocket Man”. “Being in that conversation is flattering. However, it's just chatter, and I'm sure you'll change next week," he laughed.

Regé-Jean Page, who became famous as the Duke of Hastings in “Bridgerton,” Theo James, who scored an Emmy nod for “The White Lotus,” and Henry Golding, star of “Crazy Rich Asians,” have also been linked to the role. Every time Golding wears a tuxedo on a red carpet, rumors circulate about him becoming the new 007, but he stays silent.
